Burning Tree is a unique long-term drug rehabilitation and alcoholism treatment center program, located in Texas.

History

Founded in 1999 by David Elliott, the Burning Tree Ranch vision was as a facility where men and women would learn how to live with integrity, following a recovery program built around the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, teaching integrity, excellence, and authenticity.

Since it began accepting clients, Burning Tree has grown from 20 to 60 operating at capacity. Because of the growth and demand, a second facility was opened in Elgin, Texas doubling the capacity of the Burning Tree programs.

Treatment Programs

Burning Tree is a long-term residential program treating adult addicts and alcoholics who have relapsed following primary treatment. What makes Burning Tree unique is that the length of stay is determined by the client’s progress in treatment; it is not restricted by a given timeframe.

The curriculum is an innovative treatment program designed to transform the lives of individuals and help them take control of their lives. Treatment, based on spiritual principles, addresses the whole person. Proven medical and mental-health interventions are also emphasized. The program incorporates the following:

Individually designed long-term relapse prevention programs that provide the best opportunities to heal and prevent relapse

Big Book seminars

Sponsors

Nightly 12-step meetings

An integrated approach to dual diagnosis

A family program that prepares the client’s family for the recovery process

Nutritional guidance

Physical exercise

Yoga

Individual and group therapy, including gender-specific groups

Individual care

24/7 supervision

Neurofeedback Therapy

A motivational ropes course

Lifetime support

In the January 4th issue of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, an article ran discussing GST Manufacturing and its work and vocational training partnership program with Cenikor. While Cenikor has long been known for its work in helping its clients beat their addictions, and get back on their financial feet, little attention has been paid to those companies that provide the opportunities. This is a shame, and kudos need to be sent to the Star-Telegram for focusing on one of them.

If more companies received the recognition they deserved for giving addicts in recovery a second, and even third, chance to return to a stable, sober, contributing lifestyle, more companies would follow suit. This reaching out to those in recovery actively recognizes that addiction is a curable condition, and that with help and support, becoming sober and returning to society as a contributing member is possible.

It is hoped that more and more organizations openly recognize and congratulate those businesses that accept men and women in recovery. By helping them with gainful employment, one of the links in the addiction cycle is broken, and the chances for recovery greatly increased.
